Days in Switzerland (Geneva)

So it all started with Nisha getting an internship at CERN in Switzerland. I was super excited to get out of the states, And not only just doing a road trip around north America. Its my first time leaving the states as an adult. So I was definitely in for a ride. It was about an overall 16 hours of flights and transfer. On the way from LAX to London I had a whole roll to myself so sleeping in the plane was an ease. Once I landed in London I was at awe the airport was super different and I was super eager to explore London but my layover was only 1 hour before I had to hop on the plane to Geneva Switzerland. And I started to get really anxious. Once I landed in Geneva, Nisha came to pick me up and I was super over stimulated. Everything was so different, People around me weren’t speaking English any more and everything was different around me. I had a culture shock. As we were going to take the train to CERN I left my phone at the train station. I was super sad because my phone had all of our information as in hotels and it was basically my wallet. Nisha showed me how to take the train around to get to downtown that night and we went out for dinner. The Very next day Nisha had work so I decided to go explore alone.

Brunswick Monument

I walked around and explored and took some photos of Geneva these buildings and the architecture really stood out to me.

I went to the apple store in downtown Geneva to try to get a new phone. And almost paid for one. Till an employee there told me to Check the Geneva lost and found. My hopes of finding was little to none. But I ended up giving it a try and called them the next day. They said they had a phone that matches the description. So Nisha and I set out to the middle of downtown Geneva. And we ended up getting my phone back! At the lost and found I saw designer bags and a bunch of phones that were returned. Apparently in Switzerland they reward people for returning lost items. So? if you lose something in Switzerland don’t forget to check the cities lost and founds. I paid about 35 USD for my phone, Which is not bad.

After that big ordeal for my phone Nisha and I worked up an appetite and found an ramen restaurant “Umamido”.

To be honest we did not expect much from UMAMIDO. But I have to tell you the ramen was amazing. It was surprisingly very good. Not going to lie probably one of the best ramens I’ve had in my life.

Switzerland and their clock towers.

St. Pierre Cathedral

After the meal we walked around some more and we found some more cool architecture around Geneva.

Nisha and Kyle “Wandering the Immeasurable” sculpture.

As our days end in Geneva we explored some of the cool things CERN had to offer. The Wandering the Immeasurable sculpture was a definite to check out. This sculpture is an work of art. It is an laser cut piece of art filled with recent scientific discoveries and the ones that came before us. On one side of the ribbon there are 396 discoveries inscribed in their own original language. It starts with sexagesimal calculations in Mesopotamia and ends with Higgs boson at CERN. While the other side show cases the language of science.

On our last night in Geneva we Had to go to Luigia again. This place was right out side of CERN. And It literally has the best pizza. If you visit I highly recommend!

I didn’t mention it before but Nisha and I came here many times before this. Also I did not mention eating pizza with a fork and knife ether. While we were here we learned to eat pizza the European way. While it’s finger food in America. It is definitely not in Europe.

Next blog we leave geneva
